Purchase statuses and what they mean

From Processing to Delivered: what every skin purchase status means and what to do when the customer has a bad trade link or cannot trade.

Updated · SkinPlata team

Every skin purchase shows a status under Purchases, and your server gets a webhook as it changes.

On the way

  • Processing: we are buying the skin.
  • Checking: the market took longer than usual to answer. We keep the hold and check automatically until we know the result.
  • Creating trade: the skin is bought and the trade offer is being prepared.
  • Offer sent: the offer is waiting for your customer in Steam. Ask them to accept it.

Done

  • Delivered: the customer accepted the offer. The skin is theirs.

Not delivered

  • Declined: the customer declined the offer.
  • Not accepted: the offer was not accepted in time.
  • Bad trade link: the trade link is wrong or out of date. Steam changes it when the customer makes a new one.
  • Customer cannot trade: the customer's Steam account cannot trade right now, for example because of a trade ban or missing Steam Guard.
  • Trade failed: Steam could not create the trade.
  • Returned by customer / Returned by seller: the trade was reversed after it went through.
  • Failed: the purchase could not be completed.

What to do

Ask the customer for a fresh trade link and check that they can trade, then buy again. What happens to the money is explained in Failed purchases and refunds.
