Payment statuses explained

What Awaiting customer, Offer sent, Trade protection, Released early, Paid, Failed, Reversed and Expired mean for your skin payments.

Updated · SkinPlata team

Every payment moves through a few statuses, and your site gets a webhook at each step. Your balance is credited only when a payment reaches Paid.

The statuses

  • Awaiting customer: the payment exists, the customer has not sent items yet.
  • Offer sent: the customer picked items and a trade offer is waiting for them in Steam.
  • Trade protection: the customer accepted the trade. Steam can still reverse it for up to 7 days.
  • Released early: you told your site to treat the payment as accepted before protection ended. The balance still waits, see Trade protection and releasing early.
  • Paid: the trade is final and the amount is on your balance.
  • Failed: the offer was declined, cancelled or not accepted in time. Nothing was traded.
  • Reversed: Steam returned the items during protection. If the payment was already credited, the amount is taken back.
  • Expired: the link was never used before it ran out.

The usual path

Awaiting customer → Offer sent → Trade protection → Paid. Some trades skip protection and go straight to Paid.

Where to see them

Payments in the dashboard lists every payment with its status; open one for the items, amount and, during protection, the date it ends. Refresh asks for the newest state. Customers can look a payment up themselves on the find a payment page.
